02/22/12 Ancilla College will not increase tuition rates for the 2012-2013 school year. The Ancilla College Board of Trustees voted for the “tuition freeze” during their February 20 meeting.
The board’s unanimous decision comes as part of a larger effort by the college to keep quality education affordable. “Ancilla College has been, for some years, the lowest cost independent college in Indiana,” commented Dr. Ron May, the college’s president. “The Board of Trustees has worked diligently with college staff to keep costs down and to provide substantial financial aid for students attending the college. This step of freezing tuition for the 2012-13 academic year is a further indication of the Board’s intent to keep Ancilla College an affordable choice for the students it serves. It is a further expression of our values and our mission.”
Board of Trustees Chair John Chandler expressed that he, Dr. May, and the other Ancilla College board members “are acutely aware of the economic challenges that our students and our families have had to endure during these last couple years. We feel that the value and the opportunity for an Ancilla education is very important and don’t want the financial piece to be an impediment for our students to be able to continue on with their educations at Ancilla.” Chandler added that the board also felt the move is “very important in light of the many cutbacks that students are experiencing both from federal and state financial aid and federal and state loan programs.”
In addition to the tuition freeze, Ancilla College offers other financial aid packages. The “REAch” (Rewarding Educational Achievements), “Transfer” (transferring from another college), PACE (Placement Achievement for College Education), Catholic Student, Athletic, and other scholarships provide opportunities to help a wide variety of learners accomplish their education goals. Both part-time and full-time students can also apply for need-based grants at Ancilla College. Those wishing to apply for state and federal needs-based grants can receive assistance filling out their Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) forms, as well. Students must file FAFSA forms by the March 10 deadline for state grants.
