10/17/12 Ancilla will host a free workshop on starting a new business this Thursday, October 18th at 6:30 pm for Ancilla’s Creative Commerce series.

“Things to Consider if You Are Thinking of Starting a New Business” will be led by Alan Steele, Business Advisor for the North Central Indiana Small Business Development Center.

Creating and launching a new business is much easier today, but many entrepreneurs face difficult decisions about just how to plan and start a new venture.

Alan Steele is a Business Advisor with the ISBDC who works with existing small businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs in a variety of areas including feasibility assessment, business plan development, marketing strategy, operations management, financial analysis and strategic planning.  Since 2010 Steele has served as a Business Coach for early stage technology companies working to commercialize new technologies. He has a successful record of providing guidance and advice on developing new businesses. Previous clients have received Economic Development and Growth through Entrepreneurship (EDGE) awards from the Indiana Economic Development Corporation and two have been named
finalists in the Indiana Companies to Watch competition.

Prior to joining the ISBDC in 2008 Alan held a variety of senior level marketing and business development positions working with both products and services, primarily in business to business settings.  He also spent five years as a Vice President in a large non-profit organization.

These informal workshops offer you a chance to learn from regional experts, share ideas with your peers and join a larger conversation about building new opportunities in Northern Indiana and beyond.

“Things to Consider if You Are Thinking of Starting a New Business” begins at 6:30 pm (EDT) at Ancilla College but participants are encouraged to come for networking and light refreshments beginning at 6 pm in Room 231. The workshops and parking are free, but attendees are being asked to register online at
