02/01/12 Ancilla College Athletic Director Gene Reese recently announced the resignation of Charger Soccer coach James Drzewiecki, effective February 1, due to his acceptance of the head coaching job for the newly formed Purdue University Calumet soccer program in Hammond, Indiana.

Drzewiecki was hired by Ancilla to reinvent a soccer program that had faded in years past and was dropped by the school. In 2006 he joined the Charger staff and began recruiting for the 2007 season. In five seasons at the helm, Drzewiecki amassed a 40-39-5 record, including post season berths in his last three seasons at Ancilla. In 2008 he was named Michigan Community College Athletic Association Coach of the Year.

During his tenure at Ancilla, Drzewiecki has mentored four NJCAA All-Region XII First Team performers, nine members of the NJCAA All-Region XII Second Team, and twelve MCCAA All-Conference competitors.

“James embodies what we look for in our head coaches,” began Reese. “He has strong Christian values, believes in education, works extremely hard, and is a great recruiter and coach. He has been an outstanding team member in our athletic department.”

A national search for Drzewiecki’s replacement will begin immediately.

Ancilla College is a Catholic, two-year, co-educational, liberal arts college in Donaldson, Indiana sponsored by the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ.
