11/15/12 As part of English 12 at Argos High School, seniors need to complete a senior project each year to graduate.  These projects consist of a ten page pager, a five minute speech in front of a panel of judges, an interview and some type of service project.

Senior, Kayla Hendricks plans to go to college after graduation to study pediatric nursing. She said, “I have always had a soft spot in my heart for kids and know that I belong in the pediatrics field.”

Kayla has decided to hold a dance marathon with Riley Children’s Hospital being the benefactor.  Riley Hospital treats over 82 admissions and 831 outpatients from Marshall County annually.  Hendricks commented, “Riley is considered one of the best hospitals in the country for pediatric care. Their policy is to never turn a child away.”

As part of her service project, admission to the dance marathon will be a donated new toy.  Riley has offered a specific list of acceptable toys including: Legos and Bionicles, all-inclusive craft kits, Uno cards, 12 count Crayola colored pencils and 10 count Crayola markers, sun catchers, fuzzy posters, Barbie dolls, die cast cars, action figures, Play Doh, wooden puzzles and musical toys.

Kayla Hendricks has also sent letters to businesses in the community asking for donations for her senior project.  Companies can donate toys or monetary donations and Kayla will shop for additional toys.    She is also seeking door prizes and food items for her event that will be held this Friday evening in the Argos High School Gym.  It is from 7-11 PM for Argos and Bremen High School only (unless brought as a “date” by another Argos or Bremen student) GRADES 9-12 ONLY!
