04/27/12 The Argos Town Council was informed of a possible building code violation. Dave Poisel, owner of Marshall County Discount Center, got a building permit for enlarging the former Argos Lumber Company buildings. He was wanting to expand the inside archery range. While trying to do the right thing, he opened a “can of worms”. It was discovered by Chuck DeWitt, Marshall County Building Inspector, that the buildings had never been connected to the town’s sewer system. It had a septic tank that had failed. The sewage is currently going to the storm sewer system.

Dave Walker, Council Member, said “We give tax abatements to the industries. We have to see what we can do to help the small business owners.” Kim Smock, Chief Operator of the wastewater department, was told to see if the town could go and pump out the septic tank and treat it at the treatment plant. She will also check to see if there will be any fines for having the sewage going into the storm sewer system.

Andy Stone asked the Council for funding help with this year’s 4th-A-Bration. The 4th-A-Bration will be on Saturday, June 30th. Some of the activities will be:

Garden Tractor Pull

Pedal Tractor Pull

Soccer Shoot Outs

Corn Hole Tournament

Parade

If anyone would like to help with the activities they can contact Andy at 574-540-6825.
