03/27/12 The Argos Town Council was informed by Utilities Superintendent, John Archambeault, of the meetings he has had with Topps Industries.  Topps Industries, based in Rochester, has had a manufacturing plant in Argos for several years.  They would like to expand and upgrade the electric service to their facility.  John contacted Jennifer Laurent of Marshall County Economic Corporation to research for grants to help fund the project.  IMPA, the town’s supplier of electricity, will provide two days of engineer help for free.  Also, he is working with Umbaugh & Associates and IMPA to see if a different rate structure would be the way to go.  The last increase for the base rate for electricity was in 1995.

The Street Department was given approval to have body work done on truck 17.  The 1999 Ford pickup has 34,000 miles and the engine is in good condition.  The problem is the two doors and bumpers were starting to rust.  Lincolnway Auto is to replace and repaint the doors and bumper.

Town Attorney, Derek Jones, told the Council on his research on storm water rate structure.   He told the Council, “Relying on a state wide study could cause problems if someone would challenge the rates.”  He encouraged the Council to have a study done for Argos.  Council Member, Mark VanDerWeele, motioned to contract with H.J. Umbaugh & Associates to perform the storm water rate study.  The motion carried unanimously.
