12/19/12  On Saturday, December 8th at 9:33 PM, a Marshall County Sheriff’s deputy initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for an equipment violation at Sycamore Road just north of State Road 17.   Throughout the course of the investigation it was discovered that 28 year old Devin Taviner of South Bend was in possession of marijuana and prescription drugs. He consented to a certified test and was arrested for possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person and operating a vehicle while intoxicated on a controlled substance.  Mr. Taviner was transported to the Marshall County Jail on a $1,500 bond.

On Thursday, December 13th at 2:01 AM, a Marshall County Deputy initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for a moving violation on US 31 north of 7B Road. During the traffic stop, the county’s K9, Arras conducted a search of the vehicle indicating the presence of narcotics inside.  At the conclusion of the search, paraphernalia items along with a controlled substance was located.  The driver, 21 year old Christian Jack of South Bend was arrested and charged with possession of paraphernalia with a prior charge and possession of a controlled substance.  Mr. Jack was transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked in on a $1,500 bond.

Later in the day on Thursday at 5:00 PM Patrolman Jonathan Bryant conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of 14 C and Lilac Road.   32 year old, Jacob Belcher of Argos who was known to have an active warrant was taken into custody on an active warrant for probation violation.  He was transported to the Marshall County Jail where he was held without bond.

At 9:50 PM, the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department received a complaint from Pats Bar in LaPaz in reference to a physical fight between two males. Upon arriving Deputy Jonathan Bryant located 32 year old, Jeffery Stoneburner of Walkerton who was found to be intoxicated.  He was arrested for public intoxication and was transported to the Marshall County Jail on a $500 bond.

On Saturday, December 15th at approximately 2:45 PM Deputy Bryant conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Upas and 10B Road on 36 year old, Carter Scrutchfield of North Judson. Scrutchfield was found to be operating a vehicle on a suspended license. During the traffic stop officers located narcotics and used syringes in the vehicle that led to the arrest of Mr. Scruthfield for driving while suspended with a prior and possession of methamphetamine. Also arrested was the passenger, 29 year old Sarah M. Jaskowiak for possession of methamphetamine and paraphernalia. Both subjects were transported to the Marshall County Jail and held on $1,505 bonds.
