09/14/12 Sheriff Tom Chamberlin released the August Activity Report for his department this week.

The top 10 offenses for inmates being booked into the Marshall County Jail include the number one reason again:  Operating While Intoxicated followed by theft which jumped from the number 5 spot to number 2 in August.  Coming in third was failure to appear followed by driving while suspended.  The fifth reason people were lodged in the jail was operator never licensed, #6 marijuana and #7 probation violation.  Closing out the top ten is habitual traffic violator number 8, meth/cocaine and public intoxication number 10.

167 people were booked into the county jail in August. Argos sent 1 male while Bourbon lodged 4 and Bremen had 6 males and 1 female.  Culver Police officers arrested 2 males last year and ISP officers booked 10 males and 3 females.  Officers with the Plymouth Police Department arrested 40 males and 4 females while Sheriff’s officers lodged 56 males and 16 females in the jail last month.

County Police Officers responded to 39 traffic accidents, 13 involved personal injury, 25 were property damage and 1 was a fatality.  Officers took 103 case reports, wrote 15 citations, received 886 civil papers and served 501.
