06/19/12 Marshall County Police along with Bremen Police, Fire and EMS responded Saturday afternoon at 3:30 to a traffic accident at the intersection of US 6 and Elm Road involving a pick-up truck and a motor scooter.
The driver of the motor scooter, 23 year old James Cherrone of Bremen, was traveling north on Elm Road when he failed to yield the right of way to traffic on US 6. The pick-up truck involved was traveling east on US 6 when the motor scooter began crossing the intersection. The driver of the pick-up truck, 62 year old Charles Koch of Elkhart, applied the brakes and steered to his left when the scooter ran into the front passenger side.
James Cherrone was transported to Memorial Hospital in South Bend where he died from his injuries. The other driver was not injured. The accident remains under investigation by Officer Jeff Snyder
