09/20/12 The Marshall County Church Orchestra performed the last of their “Concert In the Park” series at Miller’s Senior Living Community Sunday evening, Sept 9th.  It has become tradition for the orchestra to play during National Assisted Living Week at Miller’s.

The 6:00 p.m. concert began with the orchestra under the direction of Don Harness playing several classical numbers as well as well known hymns and popular tunes.  The crowd joined in singing many of the hymns.   Tony Ross of WTCA provided the vocals on the touching hymn “It Is Well, With My Soul”.  Orchestra percussionist and well known entertainer Quentin Flagg was also a guest performer for the evening.  He inspired the crowd with his energetic, up beat songs of the 40’s through the 90’s.

In keeping with tradition the orchestra finished the concert with a patriotic set in honor of Patriot Day which falls during National Assisted Living Week.  They ended the patriotic set with the orchestra playing “God BlessAmerica” as Flagg led the crowd in singing.

The Marshall County Church Orchestra will now begin rehearsal for their annual Concert and Dessert which takes place in conjunction with LifePlex Dance Academy every November at Christos’ Banquet Center.  The title for this year’s concert and dessert is “Masters and Masterpieces”.  For more information call Harness at 574-936-7357.
