02/10/12  On Friday, February 3rd,  around 11:50am, Patrolman Les McFarland of the Marshall County Police Department was on routine patrol when he conducted a traffic stop at US 30 at the ramp of US 31 southbound. During the investigation it was discovered that driver, Lee Waltz was operating the vehicle without having financial responsibility.   While McFarland was speaking with the driver, a strange odor was detected.  During the investigation it was then discovered or believed that the driver, Lee Waltz along with the front seat passenger Rebecca Waltz, had been smoking synthetic marijuana.   Lee Waltz was given a citation for having no financial responsibility and expired plates. It was explained to the officer that the subjects had driven to the Plymouth area to purchase the alleged synthetic marijuana (cannabinoid) from a local business. The investigation remains active, and the investigation will continue. A case report will be completed and forwarded to the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
