05/31/12 Tuesday evening the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety approved the request of Building Commissioner Keith Hammonds to board up 321 North Walnut Street.

Hammonds presented photos of the duplex with broken windows and open doors.  He said three contact letters have been sent with no response back to the city.

The property is listed as being owned by Jami Saylor in the Marshall County GIS.

Mayor Senter asked Hammonds to comment on the Park Jefferson Apartments. He said he had received another call from someone interested in purchasing the property.  He said that no one seems to be taking care of the property again and that the grass is getting tall.  It was also noted a company interested in the receivership opportunity was in town to look at the property.

He also commented on the Plymouth Motel on West Jefferson Street.  An Amish farm family is in the process of tearing down the two buildings.  The back building is down and they had about a quarter of the front building down on Tuesday.  Mayor Senter said when they went to the site to check on progress it was realized that a permit had not been obtained for the demolition.  They had acquired one now and the process continues.

In other business Fire Chief Rod Miller said an executive session will be held on Thursday as part of the hiring process for Board of Public Works and Safety members to participate in the interview process.  It is hoped that two candidates will be selected for the next step of medical and physical checks.
