03/29/12 Senator Dan Coats (R-Ind.) Monday made the following statement regarding the Supreme Court beginning oral arguments on the constitutionality of the mandate to purchase health coverage included in the president’s health care law:

“I do not believe the federal government has the authority to force American citizens to purchase a good or service. I am hopeful the Supreme Court will agree with the majority of Americans that the individual mandate is unconstitutional and this law needs to be overturned. Whether through congressional legislation or court action, Obamacare must be repealed and replaced with common-sense provisions that drive down costs and put patients in charge of their own health care decisions.”
