09/11/12 The Marshall County Council spent Monday morning working on 2012 budgets.  Not just for the county but for many several taxing units within the county.

They have to adopt the Solid Waste Budget along with the South West Lake Maxinkuckee Sewer District and the Argos Community School Budget.   They also spent about an hour going over the budgets of the townships, towns, and libraries with their required non-binding review and recommendations.

Council members spent some time going over the proposed 2013 budgets for the county departments.  It was a department by department review.  Council members made a couple of additional cuts and when all was said and done, they had cut a total of $433,011 over the three days bringing the total budget for next year to $8,331,389.  Included in next year’s budget is a 3% salary increase for full-time, part-time, department heads and elected officials.

Not included in the budget but a motion was made to allow the Sheriff to purchase four vehicles for $120,000 out of the certified shares budget.  Sheriff Chamberlin will need to seek an additional appropriation next year for the vehicle purchases.
