08/17/12 Tuesday morning about 7:30 the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department was notified by two property owners that criminal mischief had occurred on their property during the overnight hours.
A homeowner on Sheryl Court reported that their mail box had been destroyed.
The second call came from the Plymouth Country Club. A couple of greens were vandalized.
Officer Travis O’Neal is the investigating officer and found many, sometimes large amounts of grass on the greens had been gouged out.

Through the course of the investigation officers learned the identity of six juveniles from the Plymouth area who might have been involved. On Wednesday, August 15th all six juveniles were brought to the Marshall County Police Department with the cooperation of their parents. All six eventually confessed to the damages done at both the Sheryl Court location and on the County Club property.
A report of the incident has been forwarded to the Marshal County Prosecutor’s Office for consideration of possible

Oh, I forgot to add, I wonder how many of these kids parents are members at PCC. Hmmmm
Couldn’t agree with Saundra Lee more!!! I think the parents are going to need counseling also on what tough love is because most do not have the guts to show it. I have children and mark my words when I tell you that if they ever pulled something like this I would take them straight to JV hall. No deals cut! Deal with them making bad decisions as kids NOW So the tax payers will not have to foot the bill to house them later. My kids will tell ya, who is the first person that will call the cops on them? ME
Hmm shouldnt be prosecuted? Are you kidding me? My son broke a window a couple years ago and received a years probation about $800 fines and got sent off for 4 days and that was his first offense. So should they be prosecuted ABSOLUTELY! But will they probably not because of who they are!!
And there were six of them. This is gang like behavior that could easily have been far worse, much uglier, if they had happened across some innocent bystander while they were out running amuck.
Also, I can’t imagine why PCC would want these vandals back on the property…public service should be at the side of the road in a jumpsuit for all to see. Public shaming should be a major part of their punishment.
Just some kids goofing off?? Lets remember that statement the next time someone spray paints distrubing language on equipment at any of our local parks, breaks into our vehicles, burn down buildings in our community or breaks precious stones at the cemetery….This was malicious behavior and they took an object and hit the greens over and over and over again. They had plenty of time to think about what they were doing when they were committing the crime but probably didn’t feel any emotions until they were caught. Sorry but kids who vandalize are spoiled little brats with no concern of others property and are in need of some serious counseling…..and just a tad bit more then community service.
I think these kids have more issues with the mailbox they destroyed that night. Heard only 3 of the 6 kids actually went and apologized to the people at the country club. Having the kids do 100 hours of sweat equity a piece will not pay for the damage they did to the golf course. PCC should use their strong backs and actually make these kids pay money for the damages.
Yeah your right, they can do their community service at the PCC and then stop off for some refreshing drinks at the club house after taking a dip in the pool!! Did the kids at the cemetery last year get a slap on the hand? Vandalism, even if it was their first offense should be punished accordingly.
Even though these kids were not using their brain at the time, and just being kids. There is still something a little disturbing to think they were untouchable and obviously had no care for others property. These kids should face the same consequences as any other students whether they are athletes or not.
There should also be public chastisement (as WTCA and the community has done with kids in the past) announcing at every game and every saturday morning during coaches corner that the kids are out on strikes and how long they are going to be out for.
Also, have any of these kids received scholarships??..hopefully they will be ineligible so the scholarships can be given to “non-criminals” instead! I shutter to think that these kids are going to be given the same consequences as those who were given strikes for nicotine use…..no comparison, not even close!
I agree that this was not a prank, just some kids out goofing off, sadly they hurt alot of people who enjoy the PCC Golf Course. It is my understanding that there is no quick fix to repair the greens, only time will heal that, but I dont think that prosecuting the kids will solve anything, well unless they have been in trouble before. I would think that the good people at the PCC could use some strong backs and find some work around the course and let the kids pay their fines with about 100 hours of sweat equity a piece.
This wasn’t a “prank,” it was malicious vandalism. I hope the prosecutor’s office and court doesn’t just let mommy and daddy get them out of this. No matter what the age, there must be consequences for criminal behavior.
