02/20/12 Marshall County Police Officers made several arrests last week. On Monday, February 13th Patrolman Bryant initiated a traffic stop on a Ford pick-up truck near the intersection of State Road 17 and Glenn Overmyer Drive. The reason for the traffic stop was an equipment violation. Making contact with the driver, Joseph N. Warner, it was discovered the he did not have a driver’s license. Warner was arrested and transported to the Marshall County Jail for the offense. He bonded out a short time later.
On Tuesday, February 14th Officer Bryant was actively seeking subjects who had outstanding warrants. Benjamin Tolson of Argos was located at his residence in the 12,000 block of 19B Road and arrested for the Civil Contempt warrant.
At 7:38 a.m. on Wednesday, February 15th Officer Bryant initiated a traffic stop on an SUV that was speeding on US 30 east of Oak Road. During the course of the investigation, the driver, Omar E. Ochoa Monterossa was found to b e driving on a suspended license and operating a vehicle without ever receiving a license. He was transported to the County Jail and booked in for the offenses. He bonded out a short time later.
Just before 10 a.m. on February 15th the County Police Department received a call from the New Philadelphian Church in the 12,000 block of US 6 to report a break-in. Sometime between February 13th and the 15th an unknown person damaged two entry doors of a pole building and stole multiple items. Anyone with information regarding this theft should call the Sheriff’s Department.
On Friday, February 17th a concerned citizen called 9-1-1 advising of a possible impaired driver on US 31 and US 6. County officers responded to the area and witnessed the suspected vehicle make several violations. The vehicle was stopped just south of Tyler Road on US 31. During the investigation Office Brandon Cooper determined the driver; Robert E. Rauen II of North Liberty was believed to be intoxicated. He was transported to the Marshall County Jail where he submitted to a certified chemical test. He was booked in for Operating a Vehicle while Intoxicated with a BAC of .15%. It was noted that he had a prior charge. He was also charged with Operating a Vehicle while Intoxicated Endangering a Person, and Possession of Marijuana. It was also determined that R. Rauen has an active warrant through LaPorte County. His bond was set at $2,000 and he has a court date of February 28th at 8:30 a.m. in Superior Court II. A report is being submitted to the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office for formal charges.
