05/23/12  A traffic stop Thursday evening by County Police Officer Nick Laffoon resulted in the arrest of a Warsaw man being arrested for OWI, Possession of Marijuana and Driving While Suspended.

At 7:41 Officer Laffoon stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on US 30 eastbound near Redwood Road.   While speaking with the driver, 26 year old Brandon M. Cannon it was found that he had a suspended license.  He also failed several sobriety tests.

During the investigation M.C. Reserve Officer Michael Cartwright and Patrolman Travis O’Neal arrived to assist.  Two small bags of green leafy substance, suspected to be marijuana was observed in the vehicle.

Branson Cannon was taken into custody and refused to submit to a certified chemical test.  He was lodged in the jail for OWI, Possession of Marijuana, DWS, and several other traffic violations.  His $1,500 cash bond was paid Friday afternoon at 3:30 and he was released.

Friday evening at 6:19 Officer Laffoon stopped another vehicle on US 30 near Redwood Road.  While the officer was speaking with the driver and his passenger he detected the smell of burnt marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.

A probable cause search of the vehicle yielded a suspected marijuana cigarette next to where the passenger was sitting in the vehicle. 28 year old Kevin E. Reddy of Columbus, OH was taken into custody and a small bag of suspected marijuana was later found on his person.

Reedy was transported to the county jail and booked in for Possession of Marijuana under 30 grams.  His bond was set at $4,500 and paid about 90 minutes after being booked in.  He is scheduled to appear in Marshall Superior Court II on June 26th.
