12/18/12 If you’re still looking for some affordable stocking stuffers this holiday season, the Department of Natural Resources is the place to shop.

For $10, you can give a gift that lasts a lifetime with the Indiana Tree Project. The donation plants a tree on behalf of a friend or family member and will help wildlife, prevent soil erosion, support Indiana’s largest agricultural industry and help expand natural beauty in our state. Information is available at IndianaTreeProject.org.

For $12, you can get a one-year subscription to Outdoor Indiana magazine, the state’s premier nature and outdoor recreation publication. The magazine publishes six times a year in 48 pages of vibrant color and  includes articles on parks, lakes, wildlife, forests, trails, hunting and fishing, and more. Subscribe at OutdoorIndiana.org or by calling (317) 233-3046.

For $25 (or any other amount you wish to give), buy the  hunter, angler or trapper on your list a gift certificate for a sport license. The gift certificates can be redeemed online or at any DNR property for hunting, fishing and trapping licenses. Information is at dnr.IN.gov/fishwild.

For $40, you can’t go wrong with a 2013 annual state park entrance permit for Indiana residents. The permit is good all year and covers a carload of visitors at all 32 of Indiana’s state parks and reservoir properties, which offer hundreds of miles of hiking trails and other recreational opportunities. The permits are available at InnsGifts.com.

Also available at InnsGifts.com are gift certificates for Indiana’s seven state park inns, gift certificates for The Fort Golf Resort at Fort Harrison State Park in Indianapolis, apparel, books, nature-themed games and puppets, all for as low as $25.
