04/27/12 Wednesday, Congressman Joe Donnelly announced that on Friday, May 4, 2012, he will host an event, titled “Leveling the Playing Field: Make it in Indiana,” for small businesses and workers in the Hoosier manufacturing industry. The event will feature a panel of experts that will focus on three topics: discussing worker training programs to connect employers with skilled workers, highlighting unfair trade practices that disadvantage the U.S. manufacturing industry, and helping small business manufacturers apply for loans with the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Donnelly introduced The AMERICA Works Act to better connect skilled workers with employers who need them. He is also a strong supporter of cracking down on the Chinese government’s unfair trade practices that make China’s products artificially cheap, hurting U.S. manufacturers.

This event is one in a series, called “Leveling the Playing Field,” that Congressman Donnelly has hosted and will continue to host this year to discuss how better to help Hoosier businesses and workers compete in the global economy.

The event on May 4th will be held in the Cyber Café at Ivy Tech Community College, 220 Dean Johnson Boulevard in South Bend.  Registration and a continental is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. with a panel discussion and questions and answer period to begin at 9 a.m.

This event is free; however, space is limited. Please RSVP by Tuesday, May 1, to Jorge Ortiz at Jorge.Ortiz@mail.house.gov.  Please include your complete name, company name, address and telephone number.
