04/30/12 Whether you want to welcome spring or give the mother in your life a special Mother’s Day gift, join Encore Performing Arts for their second in a series of ‘Dinner and Music’ concerts. Lake Effect Winds, a woodwind quintet based in the St. Joseph, Michigan area, performs a wide variety of music. Their repertoire ranges from Baroque and Classical to 20th century styles including show tunes, big band and patriotic. Their repertoire also includes Christmas and wedding music.

Since its formation in 1997, the group has performed for numerous social events and parties, weddings, church services and outdoor concerts. Notable performances include the WAUS Second Sunday Series at Fernwood Gardens, the Riverfront Concert Series in both South Haven and Niles, Monday Musical programs and the Toast ‘n Jam children’s concert at the Dowagiac Dogwood Fine Arts Festival. They also present educational assemblies for elementary through high school students.

After their performance at the Dowagiac Dogwood Fine Arts concert, Rich Bressler, event chairman, wrote, “Wow! What great musical artistry… a wonderful, unique group of musicians to work with…creative music variety for audiences of all ages.”

Members of the quintet are comprised of Jan Street on flute; Ruthann Adams on oboe; Melody Prather on clarinet; DeLain Bomer on French horn and Lisa Bubar on bassoon.
