Fallen Officers Blood Drive at M.C. Sheriff’s Department

May 30, 2012
By

05/31/12 The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department is please to again be hosting the Annual Blood Drive Campaign to Honor Fallen Officers.  Last year the Fallen Officers’ campaign collected over 5,000 units of blood.  In Marshall County 23 units were collected.  As each unit can be broken down by cells, platelets, and plasma, the total received in Marshall County could benefit 69 individuals.  In Indiana, approximately 1,000 units of blood are needed each day.  The goal it to surpass last year’s collection locally and nationwide.

This specific Blood Drive gets its name from the lady who started the campaign after her husband was killer, however, the intent is to get as many donations as possible. The units collected do not only go to officers, they are used for accidents, medical event, military personnel, and in many other situations where blood is needed.

The American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be at the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department parking lot at 1400 Pioneer Drive in Plymouth on Monday, June 4th from 1:30 to 6:30.  While not mandatory, appointments are encouraged.  An appointment can be scheduled by calling 800-REDCROSS or going to www.redcrossblood.org.

Sheriff Chamberlin would like to thank everybody for donating at this important blood drive.
