04/09/12  Firefighters from three departments responded to the Marshall County Memorial Forest on State Road 17 Easter Sunday for a large grass fire.

Just before noon several 9-1-1 calls to the County Dispatch Center said there was a large grass fire in the inner part of the forest.  Firefighters from Plymouth, Culver and Washington Township responded to the scene and set up their command area on 14th Road.

Because of the nature of the forest, grass rigs were they only vehicles that could get into the fire scene.  After firefighters emptied the water tanks on the trucks battled the grass fires they would return to the 14th Road Command and refill from the tanker trucks waiting to assist them.

Firefighters were on the scene for approximately two hours.
