04/09/12 Annie Wojcik, Executive Director of the Heminger House has put the warning out to citizens and business.   Flocks of pink and purple plastic flamingos will begin popping up around Marshall County for annual Flamingo Flocking Fundraiser.

Last year flocks of flamingos were found in Plymouth with a few flocks showing up in Bremen and Culver.  Wojcik explained, “With 50 flamingos, and 10 in each flock we plan to start in Argos this year and get more involved in Culver.”

Flamingos typically arrive in the front yard of an unexpected homeowner or business under the cover of darkness.  The trick of moving the flamingos from your yard to another is a donation of $25 to the Heminger House and the address where you would like the lovely birds moved to.

The flamingos can be seen during the warm weather months of April, May, June and ending in July.  This fundraiser nets approximately $2,000 to the shelter with all of the money raised going towards the shelter’s operating costs.

For more information on the Flamingo Flocking fundraiser or to sign up to have the birds placed in your yard or the yard of a local homeowner or business call the Heminger House at 936-SAFE or 936-7233.
