08/06/12 Marshall County Coroner Bill Cleavenger investigated a boating accident Sunday evening at Lake Latonka.
61 year old Rodger Martin of Huntley, IL was visiting family at the lake enjoying some time on the water. They were riding in a speed boat and Mr. Martin accidentally fell out of the boat and was run-over by the boat. The propeller struck his leg severely cutting it. His family applied emergency first aid until the Plymouth Fire and EMS arrived on the scene.
A helicopter was called to the scene but Martin was not stable enough to fly. He was transported to Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth where he died as a result of the injuries he sustained in the accident.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s officers and Plymouth Fire and EMS assisted at the scene. Coroner Bill Cleavenger is being assisted in the investigation by the DNR.
