10/17/12 Plymouth dentist, Dr. Chad Shaw of Family Dental Care, is offering free dental care to area residents who do not have dental insurance and can’t afford dental care. This is the third year in a row that Dr. Shaw, his staff and others have volunteered their time for Project Smiles. This year, there will be three dentists on hand to perform patient care along with 12 volunteers.

They will be offerings fillings and/or extractions to those in need.

Project Smiles will be held on Saturday, October 20 from 8:00 am. until 1:00 p.m. at the clinic at 1409 North Michigan Street. The clinic will not be taking appointments for the event. Prospective patients must sign up to get a number the morning of the event and will be seen according to sequence of numbers. Each year they have been able to see approximately 50 patients.

Dr. Shaw said, “In difficult economic times, we realize there is a need to provide for those who do not have the means to afford dental work.” Shaw added, “Many have lost jobs and therefore, lost dental insurance.” “We want to give back to the community by helping residents be free from dental pain and improve smiles.” he said.
