09/28/12 At 11:17 Thursday morning the Marshall County Dispatch Center received a 9-1-1 call from employees at Premier Trust Company who were reporting a house fire in Tippecanoe.

Fire fighters from the Tippecanoe Fire Department and Bourbon responded to the scene and found flames shooting through the roof.  The owner of the home 40 year old Jason Oldham was still in the house when fire crews arrived and was refusing to leave the home. Oldham must have been overcome by the smoke and firefighters were able to pull him from the burning building.

In the meantime mutual-aid was sought from the Argos and Mentone Fire Departments.  It was also noted that ammunition in the house was ignited by the blaze causing great concern for firefighters.

The Oldham was transported by ambulance to the Tippecanoe Fire Department and Samaritan Helicopter transferred him on to the St. Joseph Regional Burn Center in Fort Wayne.  He was listed in critical condition Thursday evening.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.  The Indiana State Fire Marshall’s Office has been called in to assist with the investigation.
