06/13/12 Marshall County Sheriff Tom Chamberlin recently released the May 2012 activity report for his department. A total of 194 adults were booked into the County Jail during May. The top 10 offenses include #10) Possession of a controlled substance, #9) Marijuana, #8) Public Intoxication, #7) Operator Never Licensed, #6) Theft, #5) Probation Violation, #4) Driving While Suspended, #3) Illegal Consumption of Alcohol, #2) Failure to Appear and the number one reason people were lodged in the County Jail last month…Operating While Intoxicated.
The 194 jail bookings were created by various police agencies in the county including 9 males from Argos Police, 3 males and 1 female from Bourbon Police, 5 males and 5 females from the Bremen Police Department, 2 males and 1 female from Culver Police, 9 males and 2 females from ISP Troopers, 80 males and 12 females from County officers and 51 males and 19 females by Plymouth Officers.
County police handled 56 accident reports during May. 9 of those involved personal injury and 47 were property damage. A total of 108 case reports were taken by County Police officers and 17 citations were written. The Sheriff’s Department received 673 civil process papers were received and 614 were served.
The Marshall County Dispatch Center answered 1157 9-1-1 calls in the month of May. They also answered 772 police related calls for the various police agencies in the county. Firefighters responded to 72 of the 9-1-1 calls and EMS handled 250 of those calls. Marshall County also answered 1140 calls for service on their non-emergency lines.
During the month of May, Marshall County Deputies self-initiated 922 calls such as traffic stops, assisting motorists and removing debris from the roadways.
