ROUTINE IS NOT EASY
1. customary or regular course of procedure.
2. commonplace tasks, chores, or duties as must be done regularly or at specified intervals; typical or everyday activity: the routine of an office.
3. regular, unvarying, habitual, unimaginative, or rote procedure.
A routine work-out is probably what both Leanne and I are struggling with right now. Being both the high school boy’s coach and diving coach, she is in the peak-time of Swim Season. Northern Lakes Conference meets are going on now and sectionals are just a lap away. Leanne is also the head-coach of the Plymouth Sharks and that is every evening and all-day meets on the weekends.
My schedule varies with numerous night meetings, events and a daily 9 to 5 schedule.
We are both finding that to “go when we can” just does not work out (no pun intended!) Before long we have to get to a NO EXCUSES attitude!
When I have gone I have enjoyed it and felt much better afterward. I’m still learning about all of the machines, but I love a challenge and of course the goal is to get in shape, and more importantly, stay there! The assistance by everyone at LifePlex has been great. The team does not stand over your shoulder and micro-manage, but if you have a question or problem they are right there to assist.
So far, slow going, but we are learning a lot about ourselves, our self-disciplines (or lack thereof – isn’t that why we’re here in the first place) and ROUTINE has to be a word in our vocabulary!
My turn! Last week I was out-of-town 6 of 7 days for a swimming event! I could’ve gone on Friday but simply didn’t want to – bad attitude!
Today was the first weigh in for the Best Loser contest! WARNINIG – I am VERY competitive! Mark did alright but I had gained almost 2 lbs. from my initial Journey weigh in. See……that’s what I get for being a slacker! Anyway, we haven’t been watching what we eat and will be meeting with Julie Rodriguez to create our meal plan. After working out this am (and it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be) I went to the store to get some healthy choices for my breakfast and lunch. Mark went home to get ready for a 10:00 appointment. When he got home we talked about ROUTINE and how he might just have to “bite the bullet” and workout early in the day. There are too many things that “come up” at the last minute for him at the end of the day. Normally nobody needs anything at 7 am!
My goals for this week are:
- Weights 2 times and going through it twice instead of just once.
- Water aerobics
- A second group class that I haven’t determined yet
- Meet with Julie to create our meal plan
And, by the way, our TEAM name is “First Firmly”. Mark thought long and hard on that one! We hope it gives you a chuckle! Have a GREAT rest of the week.
