Don't know people, but it seems like there is a lot of hairs being split here.

I think the important thing is that in these difficult economic times that there is something that can be pointed at where people can say with pride that that person came from here, not some place else.

I think it is indeed fitting for her to have this honor, temporary or otherwise--as I believe this should be the case for any person that brings pride and a light to the community.

After all it isn't like Plymouth has that much of a shortage of streets.

Finally to all the grammar fascists, get real -- what is important is to be understood.

I think it is great to temporarily name a street after someone. I do not think we need to change a St every time someone great passes. There have been many people in Plymouth that deserved to be honored but we can't change the street names each time. We already have St names for too many politicians I think. I would rather have heros names instead of politicians, no matter who they were or how good, except a president. People that are great at sports,or other accomplishments temporary recognition is great. However Morgan has made it to the elite and I think that is terrific, I have no problem with her having a street named temporary or forever. She is the 1st olympian, ever, from Plymouth! Commishioners, mayors, senators, sports players or coaches...all are paid for their work with virtually no risk. Police, firemen, armed forces, they all get minimal pay for what they do at great risk, they deserve the recognition more than a political person ever would.
Go Morgan Go!!!!

In response to BFEmanager and Mrs. Bottorff, as I stated before I am very proud of what Morgan has done and what Plymouth has produce in the past. I to believe there is a lot of bad and sad things in the news these days. I am also glad that Plymouth has stepped up to the plate and honor her for her hard work and dedication to running. Which I do not think any other community would do this. When this story was put up on this web site, it stated “Mayor to Rename City Street to Morgan Uceny Run” It did not say anything about it being temporarily renamed. That is where I got concern. And I took as a slap in everyone else face that did great and wonderful things, that came from the city of Plymouth. Even so the City of Plymouth’s facebook page did not even say it was temporarily renamed, until it updated its status. I wish that I could come out and be their and to support the mayor and Morgan. Due to injuries sustained in Iraq. I will not be able to be there. Oh and one thing that I am sorry for is my spelling and grammar. I had Mrs. Richter as my English teacher. And I did get A’s and B’s and also I have a 4 year degree. But with my injuries I have problems with writing and such other things.---------bulldog 6 out

Seriously, Hollycow? All we ever get to read about in the news are bad, sad things. Isn't it wonderful that one of our own "hometown" kids has been successful?! We need to celebrate these kind of accomplishments, not second guess them.
I am sure the Mayor has not forgotten about Sgt. Major McLochlin or Staff Sgt. Decrow. All he is doing with this event is honoring a wonderful young woman and her accomplishments. We should all be happy to participate and wish her well.
On another note, it is obvious Mr. Norman Wagner was not your English teacher at Plymouth High School. Spell check and grammar check, please!

I believe this is a very approprate way to honor Plymouth's, Marshall County's, Indiana's and the USA's Olympian. What's the big deal....its for one week and she is representing the United States of America... By the way, we do have a street named in honor of our one fallen police officer...

Yes, we should honor our Olympic champion. (IE grand marshall of the blueberry parade or something like that.) But why can we not honor our fallen? Yes we have honor our fallen with the wall outside of our court house. But I think that we need to go alittle bit more then just the wall. And by the way, what is being put out by the mayor's facebook page for the city of plymouth, is that it is not a temp. name change. ----------bulldog 6 out

I am very proud of what Plymouth has produced over the years from Scott Skiles, Denver Bermen (sorry for spelling) and Morgan. I am very proud of Morgan. But for her to have a street named for her is wrong. Street naming should be only for people that have given the ultimate price. I.E. Police officers killed in the line of duty and Firefighters. And Soldiers, airmen, marines and seamen's that have died in the line of duty. But the mayor is forgetting that in last 6 years we have lost 2 of our own. Sgt Major McLochlin and Staff SGT Decrow. I personally knew both of them. One I enlisted at the same day with. I do think that the Mayor Senter needs to take a step back and think this one threw. I think it is great that Morgan is in the Olympic Games. But I think a little more thought is needed in this. I do believe that the Sgt Major and SSG needs to come first in the street naming business. They paid the ultimate price.----Bulldog 6 out.
