09/26/12 The eighth annual Family Talent Showcase was held during National Assisted Living Week at Miller’s Senior Living Community.  The talent showcase is a relaxed, fun time for staff, residents and family members to come together and share their talent.

“The showcase is one of my personal favorite events of the year,”  shared Miller’s Activity Director Cindy Flagg.  “I truly believe every single person has a talent that God has given them.  He gives it to us to share with others and to bring glory to his name.  I am not saying every person can sing or dance.  However, there are other talents – writing poetry, sharing hospitality, juggling, acting, baking – and it is so important to share.”

And share they did!  Family members, residents and staff shared their talents including, dancing, singing, skits, instrumental music and poetry.  People taking part in the program were as follows:  Annie Keller, Angie Rice, Mae Mikesell, Marcy Sickmiller, Nancy Bannon, Dwayne Potter, Gladys Umbaugh, Anna Corbett, Annette Ray and Cindy Flagg.

Those who choose not to take the stage often say they have “no talent”.  Flagg points out, however, that even the audience shared their gift of encouragement as they smiled and showed their enthusiasm for each participant.
