04/05/12 Staff at Miller’s Senior Living Community surprised the residents with a 9th anniversary party on Monday, April 2.   To keep the party a surprise Activity Director Cindy Flagg gave the event a name that had nothing to do with the anniversary. Residents had no idea there was a party until they arrived at lunch and saw the buffet table spread Pizza Hut pizza, salad and delicious desserts.   Since it was the 9th anniversary the Oak Hill Café was decorated with clouds, stars and cut outs of the number 9.  Flagg opened the party by stating it was the staff’s wish for everyone to be “floating on Cloud 9” during the party.  Volunteers Juanita Stapan and Tracy Wilson helped serve drinks and desserts.

Every half hour during the meal Flagg asked Miller’s trivia questions and those answering correctly received prizes.  At noon, Flagg introduced the surprise entertainer for the day, which happens to be celebrating his 29th birthday in April.  Rock & Roll Crooner Quentin Flagg visited with the residents while they finished their lunch.

Quentin began his one man show at 1:30 p.m. in the Main Lobby.  In keeping with the #9 theme he sang hits from years ending in “9” and he also sang “Love Potion # 9”.  He continued the Miller’s trivia by asking questions after every third song.

Following Quentin’s concert the audience was treated to anniversary cake and ice cream in the café.  Department heads took time to sit and visit with residents and reminisce about the good times and fun events of the past nine years.
