07/11/12 Residents and guests enjoyed a July 4th cookout and concert at Miller’s Senior Living Community on Wednesday.   Because of the sever heat advisory everything was moved indoors but that did not stop anyone from having a good time.

The dietary department fixed hamburgers and Miller’s award winning hot dogs on the grill.  There were also baked beans, macaroni salad, fresh fruit and red, white and blue cupcakes and cheese cake.  Each cupcake sported an American flag made by the activity department.

Following the picnic country singer Roy Carter (who bears a striking resemblance to Alan Jackson) arrived in his star-studded patriotic show clothes and entertained.  He sang country favorites from the past as well as a few well-known hymns and patriotic tunes.  A few fan favorites included “Sugar, Sugar”, “Blueberry Hill”, “Proud To Be An American”, “Forever and Ever Amen”, and “All My Ex’s Live In Texas”.  He closed his concert with an original song he titled “I Need Jesus”. At the end of the program Carter took time to pose for pictures with many of the residents and their family members.
