11/09/12 MoonTree Studios invites you to the opening reception for Birds of a Feather, to be held Saturday, November 10th from 1:00-3:00 p.m. EST. The featured artists are two painters from Kewanna, Indiana: Wade Bussert and Lindsey Kozubik. Their oil paintings will be on display through December 2, 2012.

Wade Bussert was born in Medford, Wisconsin and his family lived there on a dairy farm until 1962, when they moved to Kewanna, a town his Mother’s family had settled in 1837. Wade attended school there, all 12 grades, and graduated in 1976.

Twenty years ago, Wade studied drawing and design at Ancilla College with Sister Angelene. Now he shares studio space with Diane Tesler, whom he describes as another great teacher and dear friend. He still lives in Kewanna at Sparrow Cottage with his partner and their cats. Wade finds enjoyment in painting and gardening, and professes that his beautiful little town and wonderful friends are endless sources of inspiration.

Lindsey Kozubik is primarily an oil painter although she enjoys sketching with pencil and ink. Her subject matter includes anything and everything she finds interesting from still life, primarily landscapes and portraits. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts at I.U. Bloomington in 2004 and a teaching license from Manchester College in 2007.  This is Lindsey’s sixth year of teaching, and her young art students’ number approximately 625 at two elementary schools in Logansport.

After creating and showing art with fellow artists in Kewanna, Lindsey and her significant other decided that it would be a wonderful place to live. Kewanna, with its growing arts community, continues to be a tremendous influence in her life. In Lindsey’s spare time, she enjoys gardening, painting, and having a good time with her creative friends and family.
