01/12/12 Beginning with the 2012-2013 school year, there will be changes at Lincoln Junior High. LJH Principal Dan Funston, presented the proposed changes to the Plymouth School Board on Wednesday night.

Funston said, “We will be adding three new electives that students will sign up for in the same way they students do at the high school level.” New courses include Chinese, Health and Broadcasting/Digital Media. Other electives being carried over include Project Lead the Way 1, Project Lead the Way 2, FACS(Family and Consumer Science) 1, FACS 2, band, choir, art, and physical education. All of the electives will be nine week courses and some can be taken for multiple quarters. Funston said, “Instead of cafeteria style where everyone gets the same thing, the electives become suited to individual interests.”

The number of periods in the school day will decrease to six so that each period will be for 60 minutes rather than the 45 minutes being used currently. “We are currently at the state minimum for core instruction (45 minuets each).” Funston said.
