10/03/12 Angela Nelson, Public Affairs for NIPSCO said the power outage experienced by thousands of customers in Plymouth, Walkerton, Culver, and Argos was caused by an equipment issue.

It was shortly after 3 p.m. Monday when downtown businesses, the schools, big box stores, and residents in Plymouth and further experienced a power outage that lasted between 12 and 25 minutes.

Nelson said, “We had two circuits go out that we are investigating.”   She continued, “We had a transformer go down.  We were doing maintenance on another one that had an issue and were on site and able to fix the issue right away.” Nelson estimated 7,100 customers experienced the power outage.

Since NIPSCO also feeds to REMC rural customers around Plymouth and from Culver to Bremen  were also affected.
