I met Sandy my husband's first day in chemo. She is even more wonderful than this article could ever cover. Sandy and Donald's warmth and humor replaced anxiety with a more familial love.

Whenever I see someone displaying a turtle, I ask where they've seen Sandy and inquire about her well being. I was checking out at Aldi's one day, and the cashier had one lying there. I asked for that story. It turns out Sandy just looked at this girl, and said, "You're having a bad day." She then gave her a turtle.

My favorite story is one that Sandy related to me herself. She needed to get some paperwork at the court house. After her bag was x-rayed, one security guard looked at the other questioning, "Are you going to ask her or am I?" She gave each of them a turtle.
