Traffic Stop Ends in Crash After Pursuit

01/04/12  On Friday, December 30th at approximately 11:32 p.m. Patrolman Brandon Cooper of the Marshall County Police Department attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation on 9A Road, just off of US 31.  The vehicle failed to stop for Cooper and traveled eastbound on King Road.  After a short pursuit the driver, Nicholas Hummel 33 of Walkerton exited the roadway and struck a pole on King Road, near the Lincoln Highway intersection.  Plymouth Fire Department and Plymouth EMS responded to the scene and transported Mr. Hummel to the Plymouth Hospital.

A short time later Mr. Hummel was released from the hospital he was booked into the Marshall County Jail for Resisting Law Enforcement with a motor vehicle with an injury, Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated with a prior charge, and Operating a Motor Vehicle Endangering a Person.  His bond was set at $5,000.00 cash.  Mr. Hummel is scheduled to appear in Marshall County Superior Court #2 on January 24th at 8:30 a.m.
