08/28/12 Plymouth FFA was recently selected as a National FFA 3-Star Chapter after being named an Indiana state finalist this past summer. The PHS FFA was selected as 1 of 10 Indiana Big 10 chapters based on their community involvement, and student/chapter development strategies. Plymouth was also named a finalist in the Indiana Chapter Innovation category for their outstanding efforts within their community.

After being selected as an Indiana finalist, all finalists’ chapters are scored at the national level. Chapters may be scored based on a 1, 2 or 3 star status. A 3-Star rank is the highest level a chapter may receive and is similar to receiving a “gold” medal in the Olympics.

There are over 190 FFA chapters across Indiana and over 7,400 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.  The Plymouth FFA earned their way to the top by hosting and participating in community service events, and by their continual efforts to improve their member’s leadership skills.  Some of the activities the PHS FFA participates in on a yearly bases are:  host the Marshall Co. FFA Toy Show in conjunction with the other 5 FFA chapters in the county, provide an interactive and informative petting zoo for members of the Marshall County Boys and Girls Club, host member work-out nights to promote healthy living, participate in the high school 8th grade recruitment events, and host a practice “mock” contest to prepare members for competitions, along with many other events throughout the year.
