03/14/12 Plymouth FFA members had a successful evening during their competition at District II Leadership Contests on March 12 at Fairfield High School.  All 12 districts across Indiana hold a leadership contest night developed to help prepare members in the areas of premier leadership, personal growth, and career success.  The chapter participated in 10 leadership development events.  Members competing for Plymouth included: Talent: Heather Griewank, Larissa Tetzloff, Julia Lipply, Makaela Mahler.  Animal Science Demonstration: Sarah Lindvall.   Ag. Mechanics Demonstration: Sarah Lindvall & Makayla Fox.  Creed Speaking: Lilly Bottorff placing 2nd.  Horticultural Science Demonstration: Makayla Fox placing 2nd.  Freshman Public Speaking: Kaitlyn Hollar placing 3rd.  Prepared public speaking: Jessica Cleveland placing 2nd.  Multimedia scrapbook: Sarah Lindvall placing 2nd.  Star Greenhand: Makayla Depoy placing 2nd.

Makayla Depoy lead the chapter by placing 1st in the essay contest and 1st in job interview!  Depoy will represent Plymouth and travel to Purdue University this June to compete at the Indiana FFA State Convention.  If chosen as the state winner, she will go on to compete at the national level in October during the National FFA Convention.  In preparation for the big event, the chapter held a “mock” leadership contest night where members practiced his or her contest in front of a panel of parents.  “I strive to put the members in as close to a real life situation as possible to prepare them for contest,” says adviser Kelli (Hoffman) Kreider, who herself is no stranger to understanding what it takes as an FFA member to prepare for competition as she competed on the state and national level numerous times as an FFA member herself.
