06/18/12 The PHS Valedictorian of the 2012 graduation class was Grace K. Anders, the daughter of Curt and Kathy Anders. She leaves Plymouth High School with a grade point average of 12.119 on a 12 point scale. She received the highest diploma, the Academic Honors Diploma, reflective of her ability to master the school’s most rigorous courses of study.
In addition to her outstanding performance in the classroom, the valedictorian was involved in Alpha Delta Rho Literary Club, Crimson Connection, French Club, and was the editor for the PHS online magazine, The Pilgrimage. She was also a Peer Tutor for the after-school assistance program.
Special awards and recognition earned by Valedictorian Grace Anders included being named Student of the Month for every department in which she took a class at some point during her high school career and winning 1st place in the United Federation of Poetry Clubs Poetry Contest at the State Level.
Scholarships received by Anders included the Kristina Vegso Scholarship, the Alpha Delta Rho Scholarship, a Stanley Scholarship, and a Beloit College Presidential Scholarship.
Grace Anders will enroll at Beloit College in the fall where she will major in Creative Writing.
The PHS Salutatorian, Danielle A. Becktel is the daughter of David and Angela Becktel. She concluded her High School career with a grade point average of 12.113 on a 12 point scale. She also earned an Academic Honors Diploma reflective of her willingness and ability to excel in our most rigorous and demanding courses.
Throughout High School, she participated in Student Council, National Honor Society, Spanish Club, Sunshine Society, Pep Club, K.E.Y. Club, L.E.A.D Club, SEED Club and served as a Peer Mentor. She was also a member of the Soccer Team.
Honors and Awards received by Danielle Backtel included induction into the Plymouth High School Academic Hall of Fame for Mathematics, being named to the NLC Academic Team in Soccer, and being recognized as Student of the Month for numerous departments, inclusive of Math, Spanish, and Science.
Scholarships and awards received by the PHS Salutatorian Danielle Becktel included the Eugene & Florence O Stanley Scholarship and the Butler Presidential Scholarship.
Danielle will enroll at Butler University where she will major in Biology – Pre-Med.
