02/17/12 The Plymouth Community Youth Orchestra took another field trip to South Bend on Saturday, February 11th. They were back at the Morris Center to attend the South Bend Symphony Orchestra’s POPSII concert “Romance at the Symphony”! The kids loved the audience participation of shouting “Mambo!” during the performance of Mambo from West Side Story. Everyone got a real kick out of conductor, Tsung Yeh, when he used a squirt gun to supply rain for guest artist Kirby Ward during the performance of Singing in the Rain. Of course the girls noticed all the wardrobe changes for guest artist Joan Hess – she wore a different dress and pair of shoes for each number!

The PCYO also enjoyed watching one of their assistant directors, Candace Thomas, perform as a member of the SBSO. She gave the kids a preview of some of the songs earlier in the week and demonstrated different bowing techniques she’ll be using.
