02/14/12 Traffic on US 31 south of US 6 was stopped for a short time just after 1 p.m. Monday for a two vehicle traffic accident.

County Police Officer Jeff Snyder was the first officer on the scene and found that a 1997 Mercury Villager driven by 29 year old Anthony McNeal of Plymouth was attempting to cross US 31 at the intersection of 2C Road and pulled into the path of a southbound 2007 International Semi driven by 51 year old Bozo Tazan of South Bend.   Impact was on the passenger side of the minivan causing it to spin and travel off the west side of the roadway.

Anthony McNeal was unrestrained and ejected from the vehicle. He was transported by helicopter to Memorial Hospital in South Bend.  His daughter, 6 month old Reese McNeal was a passenger in the vehicle.  She was transported by ambulance to Stain Joseph Regional Medical Center.

Officer Snyder said the extents of injuries are currently unknown.  Toxicology results are pending and the accident remains under investigation.
