February 13, 2012
By

)2/14/12 Friday afternoon at 3:40 the Marshall County Dispatch Center received a call in reference to a male subject n Harrison Street being severely burned.  Plymouth EMS and Fire responded to 1509 West Harrison Street and found Otis Young with burns to a major part of his body.  The original cause of the fire was said to be a kerosene heater that ignited, although it is suspected by police and fire officials that the fire was actually a meth lab that exploded.

Plymouth Police are not currently investigating the incident because Mr. Young was uncooperative at the scene.  He told police the accident happened in the county and he ran to the Harrison Street address to seek help.

EMS called for a helicopter to airlift Young to a burn center but because of the weather it was unable to fly.  He was transported by ambulance to Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth and then transferred by ambulance to a regional burn center.
