03/15/12 Plymouth Schools, along with 22 other Indiana school corporations, are in line to share grant monies from the Indiana Department of Education to implement classroom technology projects. The grants are awarded through Indiana’s innovation grant program. Funding for the grants primarily comes from the David C. Ford educational technology fund. Ford worked to further the efforts to provide technology and innovation during his time in the Indiana General Assembly from 1994-2008.
Those corporations chosen will receive up to $200,000 in grant monies.
IDOE Superintendent, Tony Bennett, said, “More than ever, technology plays a central role in classroom learning and prepares students for a competitive, high-tech workforce.” “I am proud to recognize these schools committed to driving student success using technology.”
Evaluations for awarding the grants were based on a school corporation’s vision for a sustainable Technology-infused learning environment. The IDOE also listed the following as other considerations in the selection process: “Schools and corporations that applied were evaluated based on their vision for a sustainable technology-infused learning environment and the level of innovation in their proposals. The schools were also reviewed for their efforts to advance student learning in key areas identified by the IDOE—including improvement in Math and English/Language Arts ISTEP+ performance, Advanced Placement exam scores, graduation rates, and use of student growth data.”
