Agenda items include a report on the progress of the pool removal at Plymouth High School. Over the spring break, crews were able to remove the pool and relocate some electrical and water lines. The area is being renovated to house the School of Inquiry. The new school will be opening in the 2012-2013 school year; however, the renovation of the space will not be completed until the 2013-2014 school year. When the school within a school opens in the fall, they will be located in existing space within PHS as the construction continues.
According to Maintenance Director Dave Schoof and Assistant Superintendent Rodger Smith, the renovation efforts already completed fall well within the budgeted amounts.
The board will hear a detailed report from Schoof and representatives from Barton, Coe, Vilamaa, architects on the project, at the meeting including pictures taken during the work already finished.
Other items include review of the student handbooks for grades K-6 and 7-12. The board is expected to consider textbook fees for the 2012-2013 school year at that time as well.
Additional agenda items include consideration of an additional appropriation for the Debt Service Fund, awarding contract for the before/after school program, and policy revisions.
Superintendent Daniel Tyree is expected to present a proposal on the topic of bus maintenance changes which will include contracting services with a local company and re-purposing the existing garage area.
