GARDEN CITY, MI – The Chargers (3-7-3) were defeated 1-2 by Schoolcraft College on Friday.

Coach Gallagher stated, “I give a lot of credit to our guys.  We came out with high energy and after we scored the game’s first goal we knew they would turn it up a notch.  We dealt with that pressure and I know this game will prepare us for the regional playoffs.”

Schoolcraft came into the match against Ancilla ranked 8th in the national poll.  Carlos Ramirez (El Paso, TX) got the Chargers on the board when he converted a penalty kick.  Rene Mejia played fantastic in the net and came away with 7 saves on the day.  Matt Willinger (Evansville, IN), Mike Calderon (Long Beach, CA), and Lexi Reynoso (San Diego, CA) gave strong performances holding down the backline against a potent Schoolcraft attack.

The Chargers gear up for their next game on the road in a regional playoff Wednesday, October 24th against regional opponent Cincinnati State and Technical.

Gallagher added, “It’s tournament time and anything can happen when it is a one and done.  Cincinnati State and Technical is a solid side but we built up our confidence the last time we played them so I expect another tough game!”
