Stretch Of U.S. 31 Southbound Closed For Railroad Repair

  06/06/12 The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announces the closure of U.S. 31 southbound, at the railroad crossing between 13th Road and 14th Road, Thursday, June 7th through Thursday, June 14th.

  All southbound U.S. 31 traffic will be shifted to the northbound passing lane of U.S. 31. Northbound traffic will be shifted to the northbound driving lane. The restrictions will be in place a half mile on either side of the railroad crossing, located about four miles north of Argos, as crews perform maintenance on the railroad.

    It’s been quite a few years. I, for one, am thankful that they haven’t allowed it to deteriorate to the point it had been before. I would almost come to a complete stop; I am slowing down considerably now when I cross.
