04/24/12 Ancilla College partnered with the American Red Cross to hold a blood drive on April 18 that passed their initial goal.

According to Dianna Cooper, the Ancilla College staff member who coordinated the event, “The blood drive was once again a huge success. We had 47 people attend and ended up with 35 good units. I’d like to thank our students, staff, administration and the community for coming to the drive to donate. Every pint given helps save the life of three other individuals.”

The American Red Cross has recently reported blood levels as low, asking the public to donate blood that will help others in need. According to their website, RedCrossBlood.org, “There is an ongoing need for blood. Blood donated by generous volunteers is used daily by cancer patients, victims of trauma, premature babies, organ transplant recipients, and those with various blood disorders.”

Ancilla College (www.ancilla.edu) is a Catholic, two-year, co-educational, liberal arts college in Donaldson, Indiana, sponsored by the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ.
