01/06/12 A suspected burglar had to be taken to the hospital after the homeowner and family members got into a physical altercation.
About 3:30 Tuesday afternoon the Marshall County Dispatch Center received a call of a theft in progress in the 14,000 block of 14th Road near Culver. The unnamed victim blocked the suspect’s vehicle in the driveway and called relatives after calling police.
The suspect, 32 year old Anthony Fields, fled on foot with relatives of the victim following him through the woods and into a field. That is where the physical altercation happened.
When officers from the Marshall County Police Department and Culver Police arrived on the scene, the suspect was being detailed by family members.
Anthony Fields was transported the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth by Plymouth EMS.
A report is being filed with the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office and the investigation is continuing.
