09/06/12 Marshall County Emergency Management Agency Director, Clyde Avery announced Wednesday afternoon the cancellation of the District 2 Emergency Response Public Safety Fair that was scheduled for this Friday, September 7th in Centennial Park from 2 until 7 p.m.

Avery said, “The event has been cancelled due to concerns over weather.”  He continued, “Not bad weather…just a high probability of rain which makes for a muddy mess and decreases the chance to have a good turnout.”

The Public Safety Fair would have been an opportunity for the general public to see the various emergency response equipment that supports the entire district including the Elkhart Mobile Command Center, St. Joe County’s Emergency Response Vehicle, Plymouth Fire Department’s Smoke House, Elkhart County’s Decontamination Trailer, the Mass Casualty Trailer housed in Plymouth, and the Med Flight helicopter.     Also planned to be on display were the hospital surge tents, Nature’s Way Animal Rescue, the Red Cross and Mental Health teams.

It is hoped that the Emergency Response Public Safety Fair can be held sometime next spring.
